Rep. Pitts votes on the House floorJim Pitts of Waxahachie, Texas has served as state representative for District 10 since January of 1993. The district includes Ellis and Hill Counties which generally encompasses the area between Dallas and Waco. There are approximately 140,000 constituents in the district.

A native of Dallas, Jim has practiced law in Waxahachie for over 25 years specializing in Elder Law; he also owns the Ellis County Abstract and Title Company. Jim is also a director of Citizens National Bank in Waxahachie, a director of Sims Library, a past president of the Waxahachie Chamber of Commerce, and past president of the Board of Trustees of Presbyterian Children's Services.

Prior to his election to the House of Representatives, Jim was a 14-year member of the Board of Trustees for the Waxahachie Independent School District and was president of the Board at the time of his election.

Jim has served as Chair of the House Committee on Appropriations, and currently serves as Vice Chair of the House Committee on Government Reform. He has also served on the House Committees on Transportation, Economic Development, State, Federal and International Relations, among many others.

Jim has three children, and three grandsons. He lives in Waxahachie.
