Rep. Pitts announces campaign

State Rep. Jim Pitts (R-Waxahachie) has announced his candidacy for re-election to the Texas House of Representatives, District 10.  Pitts has served the district, which includes Ellis and Hill counties, since 1993. He is seeking his seventh term in office.

“My tenure in the Texas House has been extremely meaningful to me and my district,” Pitts said. “I have enjoyed the challenges presented to me as a House member. There are many important issues in which I am currently involved, and I want to continue to work with, and for, the residents of my legislative district on these issues.”

Pitts, as a member of the House Appropriations Committee for the past four sessions, is chairman of the subcommittee on education and is also a member of the House Select Committee on Public School Finance.

Pitts makes his home in Waxahachie. He and his late wife, Evelyn, have three children, Duffy Pitts Bloemendal, Ashley Pitts and Ryan Pitts. In addition to his law practice, Pitts owns Ellis County Abstract and Title Co. and a farm and ranch operation.

“I am committed to continuing the work I have begun in Austin. It has been a privilege to serve the citizens of Ellis and Hill counties,” Pitts said. “I believe that I can help bring about positive change through the committee assignments I have been given. That is why I ask you for your support in the coming election cycle.”
