Pitts Receives Comptroller Combs Endorsement

April 3rd, 2012

Comptroller Susan Combs announced today her endorsement of Rep. Jim Pitts in his re-election campaign in House District 10.  During Pitts’ service to the people of his district and as Chairman of the Appropriations Committee, he has been responsible for the largest spending cuts and largest property tax cut in our state’s history.  His efforts have allowed Texas to lower debt and balance the budget without raising taxes.

Regarding her endorsement, Comptroller Susan Combs said, “It is an honor to endorse my long-time friend and former colleague, Jim Pitts.  Together, we have worked hard to spread our conservative message and the importance of fiscal responsibility in the state of Texas. We will have difficult issues to face next legislative session and we need his leadership back in Austin to continue that work and to keep Texas on the right path.”

Chairman Pitts said, “As Comptroller, Susan Combs has played an important part in keeping our economy one of the strongest in the nation.  We share a commitment to low taxes, government efficiency, and accountability, and I am proud to have her endorsement.  I look forward to working with her once again to protect hard working families and businesses throughout the State.”

Pitts also serves on the Committee on State Sovereignty and the Joint Committee on Oversight of Higher Ed Governance, Excellence & Transparency. House District 10 is comprised of Ellis county and a portion of Henderson County.

Pitts is a Waxahachie attorney.  He also owns the Ellis County Abstract and Title Company, is a director of Citizens National Bank in Waxahachie, and is a Director of Sims Library.  Pitts previously served as President of the Waxahachie Chamber of Commerce, President of the board of trustees of Presbyterian Children’s Services, and President of the Waxahachie Independent School District. He and his late wife Evelyn, have three children.
